Located in High Street, Newport, Shropshire, TF10 7BD Haberdashers’ Adams grammar school is a selective day and boarding school for boys aged 3 to 18, girls joining in the sixth form. The School was founded in 1656 by William Adams. Haberdashers’ Adams Grammar School currently has approximately 900 pupils with 360 (boarding and day pupils) sixth formers. Sixth form pupils include both girls and boys. Haberdashers’ Adam Grammar School has a boarding capacity of 100 pupils, including senior boarders and junior boarders. At the age of 14 or 15, junior boarders move into the senior boarding house to continue their boarding life.
In 2006, the School celebrated its 350th year. The School continues to follow its long and proud tradition of successfully educating generations of young people. Adam Grammar School is one of England’s top 50 selective state grammar schools.

The School regularly produces good GCSE and A-Level results. As a result, many graduates of Adam Grammar School attend Russell Group universities like Oxford or Cambridge for university degrees. Haberdashers’ Adam Grammar School is heavily involved in their student’s growth and gives them every opportunity to help their students reach their potential to grow into confident and creative individuals. The new changes in the School include converting the old gymnasium and theatre into a state of the art storey and a former coach house into a new performing arts centre.

Admission to Haberdashers’ Adams grammar school
Most students join the Haberdashers’ Adams grammar school through year 7; although if places are available, the school admits pupils to both day and boarding in years 8 and 9.
For year 7, places are awarded based on the student’s performance in the entrance exam; parents can apply to the school irrespective of their address in the UK. Parents have to fill the registration form within the 12 week registration period. Day places for year seven are determined through students’ performance in the entrance exam, whereas boarding education places are given on candidates’ individual needs.
If the number of pupils who pass the entrance exam exceeds the number of places, the school follows the oversubscription criteria.

- Boys who are entitled to pupil premium on the entrance exam date. The academic standard required for pupil premium boys is 5% lower.

The 11 Plus Entrance Exam follows the same structure as other grammar schools in the Wolverhampton and Wrekin region. The exam consists of two papers with four timed sections. These two test includes –
