Located in Caulfield Road, Shoeburyness, Essex, Shoeburyness High School is a co-educational academy for pupils aged 11 to 18. In 1999, the school gained the Technology College status, and in 2008 it gained a Leading Space Education School status, and since then they have implemented a number of space-themed projects in science. Gaining Technology Status had been achieved with the help of a community effort. The school got an academy status in 2011, and in the same year, they also developed the CAD/CAM centre.
Shoeburyness High School offers a broad range of subjects and extended school service, running extra-curricular activities for Shoeburyness pupils and students from other local primary schools. In 2013, The school was graded as ‘Good’ in their Ofsted inspection.

What is included in the Key Stage 3?
In Key Stage 3, pupils learn subjects like Art, Design and Technology, English, French, Geography, History, ICT, Maths, Music, Physical Education, Religious Education, Science and SCOPE ( PSHE ). In Key Stage 4, pupils learn three core GCSE subjects, and other subjects are chosen as their own options.

The admissions process for Shoeburyness High School is designed to be fair, impartial and transparent. With more than 310 applicants vying for just 30 places available in Year 7 each year (or less than 1% acceptance rate), it’s vital they get all their applications correctly processed!
Oversubscription policy
When there are more Year 7 applications than available places in the school, the school gives priority to pupils with a statement of educational needs (SEN), or Education, Health and Care (EHC) places. The priority is then further given to –
- Looked after and previously looked after children.
- Up to 31 students are given preferential admission based on their performance in the selection test administered by the Consortium of Selective Schools in Essex. In case, any selective place is unfilled, the students with the highest score in order of merit is considered for the position.

How to apply to Shoeburyness high school
Parents need to complete two forms to apply for a place in Year 7 at Shoeburyness High School. The Consortium of Selective Schools in Essex (CSSE) registration form and the Supplementary Information Form (SIF). Both the CSSE registration form and the SIF can be filled online through the CSSE website.
Apart from this, parents living in Essex needs to fill their child’s preferred secondary schools on the Essex Common Application Form (CAF). This form can be filled out by hand on the paper forms supplied in the LEA Secondary School Admission booklet.
