Kingston Grammar School has approximately 870 pupils, 263 in their sixth form. The school was founded in 1559 by Henry VIII and given to the then Archbishop of Canterbury, Matthew Parker, as part of the Royal Foundation of Trinity College, Cambridge. It is one of England’s oldest continuously operating independent schools.

Kingston Grammar School 11 Plus Admissions

Kingston Grammar School is a highly selective school that accepts children based on the child’s current academic performance, the entrance exam, and an interview with the teachers to decide if your child is fit for the school or not.
The entrance exam for year 7 consists of English and maths paper which is produced and administered by the school itself. Both the papers are based on the National Curriculum. Only the candidates who have achieved the required standard in the entrance exam will be invited for the interview.

Students that have a potential for the scholarship will be identified through the entrance exam. They will also be required to take further assessments in Maths and English to help in decision making. Scholarships can also be applied in art, music and sport.

How to apply for Kingston Grammar School

For their child to get considered for the 11+ entry into year group 7 at Kingston Grammar School, parents need to complete the registration form with a non-refundable registration fee of £125. The deadline to complete the registration and to apply for fee assistance (which is done through a separate form) is at the starting of December.

The 11 Plus Exam Format of Kingston Grammar School

The 11 plus entrance test for year seven at Kingston Grammar School consists of Mathematics and English papers.

English 

The English part of the exam is of 50 minutes and includes Reading, Writing, Speaking and Listening. 

Mathematics

The mathematics part of the exam is also 50 minutes and the questions on this paper are based on the ‘Key Stage 2 National Syllabus’ This includes topics such as-
