Founded in 1598, the school continues to maintain its exceptional reputation for its achievement and learning. The school has received many awards such as Artsmark, investors in people status, healthy school, Sportsmark and international school, etc. AGS gained the second college status as a Language College in April 2006, and in January 2008, the school gained additional second secondary college status in maths and computing. Admission to Aylesbury grammar school
Children from primary school in Buckinghamshire will prepare for the exam by attending a preparation test at their school. This preparation test helps pupils familiarise themselves with the type of question they will be facing in the 11 plus secondary transfer test that lasts around 35 minutes; this test is shorter than the actual 11 plus secondary transfer test. Pupils who are not from primary school in Buckinghamshire are invited to take the prep test at one of the grammar schools.
As a part of its coordinated admissions scheme, the 11 plus Secondary Transfer test is created by GL Assessment and is administered by Buckinghamshire County Council.
Parents may apply to the selection review if their child doesn’t achieve the required score in the exam due to any exceptional circumstances.

How to apply for Aylesbury grammar school
Registration for the secondary transfer test is automatic for children who attend Buckinghamshire Primary schools, but parents can withdraw their child from this. In all other cases, including when the child is from independent schools in Buckinghamshire, application for testing must be made to the Testing Administrator. Apart from this, all applicants must notify their preference for the school they want their child to attend to their Local Authority before the closing date.
