Colchester County High School for Girls is a selective grammar school with Academy status in Norman Way, Colchester, Essex, for girls aged 11 to 18. Located a mile to the west of central Colchester, the School is set in its own extensive grounds on a large, quiet campus.

CCHSG is part of the alpha trust and is one of the first science specialist schools in the UK. It has approximately 800 students, 200 of whom are in the sixth form. The School was graded as Outstanding by Ofsted in their last inspection in 2009.

Colchester County High School for Girls is one of the CSSE Schools and therefore admits students through the 11 plus exam conducted by the Consortium of Selective Schools in Essex (CSSE).  

When the school is oversubscribed and has more eligible candidates than available places, the school follows the oversubscription criteria, which gives priority.

  1. Looked after children or previously looked after children who scored 320 or above in the 11 plus entrance test. 
  2. Up to 20 places are allocated to the highest-scoring girls in the order of merit and who are eligible to pupil premium on the date of the 11+ exam. 
  3. Places will be then allocated in the order of merit list.
