Located in Kenilworth gardens Westcliff-On-Sea, Essex, SS0 0BS, Westcliff High School for Girls is a selective grammar school and academy educating girls age 11 to 18, since 1931. It has a coeducational sixth form. The school provides a friendly and encouraging environment to all its students in all their learning and extracurricular activities.

Dr. Paul Hayman, the headteacher of WHSC and the excellent staff that gives excellent pastoral care and an encouraging environment in which pupils can pursue a diverse range of activities.

In 2011, Westcliff High School for Girls Westcliff, Southend on sea, under the supervision of Paul Hayman was converted to academy status. Academy is schools that are not funded by the local authority but directly by the government. They can set their own term dates and don’t have to follow the national curriculum but they still have to follow the same rules on Ofsted inspection, special educational needs and exclusions as other state schools. Westcliff High School for Girls has achieved a number of awards including National Healthy Schools Status and The Diana Award. For their GCSE and advanced level performance Westcliff High School for Girls is regularly in the top 100 of all state schools, they have an excellent reputation for their work ethic.

Admission in Westcliff High School for Girls

Exam Format

This 11+ entrance test will include English and Mathematics. 

  • The CSSE 11+ English paper covers questions on comprehension, creative writing, grammar, vocabulary, and verbal reasoning and these can be asked in multiple-choice and open answer questions. 
  • The CSSE 11+ Maths paper will be based on topics from the KS2 National Curriculum syllabus and non-verbal reasoning.
